KERBAL SPACE PROGRAM SERVICE BAY STATUS MOD

(I'm not familiar with that mod myself, so won't point it out to the mod author unless and until I look into it a bit more. I notice that the configuration file for that part has two entries of ModuleCargoBay, which seems strange. The Mk3 service module from the mod never shields its contents, so it looks like KSP thinks it is always open. (I don't know why they made this rule, but can guess the programmer had some good intentions, but in hindsight it seems overly complicated.) When cargo bays are in a connected chain it requires that all of them are closed before it removes drag from the contents of any of the bays. KSP seems to think that the Mk3 service module from the MK3 Expansion mod is open. If I move the Mk3 drone core forward to go between the Mk3 service module (from the mod) and the stock long Mk3 cargo bay, then the contents of the long cargo bay are properly shielded and show zero drag. There is an option in the alt-F12 menu under Physics: Aero: 'display aero data in menus' that lets us check if parts have zero drag, while still rolling on the runway. So you may have to take my word for it when I say that the longest drag indicator is coming from a clamp-o-tron Sr just inside the MK3 tail section which is on the front of this aircraft body.Īnd I downloaded it and see the same problem as you do. It is hard to depict just how much drag is coming from within the craft where it should not. What could possibly cause stock aero shells to not perform their intended function? I still have yet to determine if this is a stock or a modded issue.

This took some time to uncover as to why the plane lost so much performance over the update and it turns out that the stock mk3 cargo bay parts are no longer shielding any contained parts from aero forces during flight regardless of open or closed state.īecause this is a problem with broken stock parts I already contacted KSP support without thinking about how fundamentally even basic mods can change the functionality of the entire game.

When in previous 1.7.x versions the craft had little issue with a 40 tonne to orbit payload. I have recently encountered a problem in the 1.8.x versions of KSP in which a Mk3 spaceplane (stock + mk3 expansion) was struggling to break 300m/s with 11 tonnes stowed. Part unlocking follows a logical progression with the majority of parts available at tier five and six.To whoever may have experience with this kind of problem. The mod is fully comparable with career mode, with parts balanced against their non-wedge equivalents ensuring there are no ‘cheat’ parts. The mod includes support for animated gifs in KSPedia pages.

Wedges are Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) compatible, allowing Kerbals on EVA to swap out wedges as part of a resupply mission.įull KSPedia support provides in-game information on the parts, their features and how to build craft. In addition, Universal Storage is closely linked with DMagic Orbital science to provide a large selection of wedge format science experiments when both are installed. The game will automatically detect which mods you have installed and load payload wedges to match. Selected fairings can be configured as a payload bay for use without a core or wedges.įairings can be configured to match the look of your craft, with either Porkjet, Gemini, Apollo or Saturn (Universal Storage Classic) paint schemes.īuilt from the ground up to provide resource storage for the popular life support mods. The larger cores feature a central fuel tank or a crew transfer tunnel (for use with Connected Living Space). Larger cores and fairings have multiple configurations.

Cost, mass and capacity all scale linearly so every configuration is balanced.

Most parts have multiple height options, allowing increased resource storage without bloating part count. The core provides the structure with space to attach payload wedges and the fairing provides aer

Service modules are built from three basic parts.

Use the Change log button above to find and download the correct version. But as soon as I turn OFF one of these 3 sets, doesnt matter which one, the service bay is no longer oddly illuminated. If you are using KSP 1.3.1 you must download the correct version of the mod. When more than 2 sets are ON, the service bay 'side portions' light up differently, strangely. The new, separate fairing system features multiple skins to make sure your craft looks beautiful and remains functional. UvSII allows you to create mission specific service modules, with resizable wedge parts to keep part counts low.

Featuring a redesign of the wedge and core concept with full support for the KSP aerodynamic system. Universal Storage II (UvSII) is the follow up to KSP’s wedge based parts mod.
